I was invited to collaborate in OFFF´s Let´s Feed the Future Anual Book.
The proposal was to create a Key Visual representing my first safe shelter, my mother´s womb, and reinterpret this memory.
“My mother´s belly is the place where my heart first started to beat.
In this piece, I wanted to recreate an abstraction of that inner landscape full of textures, liquid and organic shapes in a more graphic way.
For this purpose, I explored an ancient bookbinding technique; paper marbling, which is linked to my family bussiness related to book publishing. The image background then, is composed out of floating paint making patterns.
As a hero, a real heart rises in the middle of the image representing life. On its top, veins and artheries connections have been hand modeled with a shiny yet crafted finish. Real textures are combined with these bold and unreal shapes in Mexican Pink, a color which is part of Mexican idiosincracy and cultural identity, the country where I was born and raised”
